What to expect in your first session


For some people, the thought of seeing a psychologist or “going for therapy” can feel quite intimidating, especially so if this is your first encounter with therapy. The first session, and subsequent sessions, are in its most basic form a conversation between two people. The first two to three sessions are referred to as the assessment phase. This means identifying and gaining a thorough understanding of your challenges, and the goals of treatment. Following this process, if you decide to continue with the therapeutic process, we will determine, collaboratively,  the length and focus of the therapy based on your needs and resources.
